Hi, Just wondering if anyone else is running a K15 and having trouble getting it to identify MQA files. ROON shows the output as normally playing a MQA file, the DAC is configured as decoder and renderer, however, Its showing the file as a PCM file only. Any ideas? TIA!

Please share an image of the Signal Path, and Device Settings.
The signal path shows clearly that Roon is delivering MQA to the DAC. Consequently, Roon is not decoding.
Maybe you should set the DAC to Renderer only, and let Roon to the decode.

Do you have PEQ or bypass mode enabled in the FiiO by any chance? This seems to disable MQA:
It was originally set up that way, still didn’t work.
Those are both my posts. And yes I have PEQ disabled.
Oh well 
I have a FiiO R7 and somehow the onboard EQ was enabled and this was breaking the MQA on the R7.
This maybe the case for you also.

For MQA to work, bypass has to be enabled on DACs with a pre function. As soon as you disable bypass the signal can no longer work with MQA
Well, since MQA is already not working for you, did you try without? The Head-Fi link states explicitly:
- Bypass mode engages a flat EQ curve (no DSP), avoids playback interruptions when switching presets (MQA still unsupported in this mode).
That goes against everything any DAC I have ever purchased, however, anything is worth a shot at this point! I’ll give it a try and post back shortly

Can’t get worse
Just gave it a shot, still doesn’t work. Acts the same way in both fixed and non fixed modes.
You’ll have to ask FiiO, but if you have Roon decode the MQA, and set the filter on the K17 to the Super Slow one, you’ll effect much the same thing. All the “rendering” amounts to is a very short over-sampling filter.
Yeah, I asked FiiO support, 15 days ago ….. crickets, their service sucks. Oh well, I’ve done all I can do, I give up. I would be more concerned if we still had MQA streaming services but for my small collection of MQA CDs/Files, it’s not a deal breaker.
