First timer - unable to connect to Synology NAS

Hi @support; here’s the rundown:

  1. MacBook Pro on v10.14.2 Mojave
  2. Synology NAS 413j

Trying to connect via +Network share on pathway, well various pathways, but this is complete path -smb://192.168.0.13/DiskStation/music

Get error message of “unable to connect: unauthorized”

Any ideas?

Thanks

Steve

Try just \\DiskStation\music

That works on mine.

Verify the username and password (connect directly from your Mac to the NAS to test). Make sure the account has rights to the music share. And make sure the path is correct…

Hi @Steven_Pryce,

So we can better assist you, please describe your network configuration/topology, including any networking hardware currently in use, so we can have a clear understanding of how your devices are communicating.

If you open Finder on your MacBook and paste smb://192.168.0.13/DiskStation/music, are you able to access the NAS?

We have some information about connecting to your NAS in this KB article that I definitely recommend checking out!

@dylan, the referenced KB uses the following example:

like \\892.168.1.135\Music

Which likely would be more familiar as:

like \\192.168.1.135\Music
