Focus Inspector: No / Not Duplicates and “Has Versions”

Hi,

After a recent journey with my entire library, I’ve leaned on focus elements for various situations, it largely to evaluate my local library vs Qobuz favourites.

During that analysis, I was really looking for and needing the “Not” duplicates capability.

I’m aware of historical posts on this topic and that the functionality did appear to work at some point, albeit erroneously a “feature”, after which it was pulled back :slightly_smiling_face:.

I’d like to put forward a feature request to enable “not” duplicates in Focus (even as a preferences “feature flag” to enable). And also a “Has Versions” item (see later).

I have three categories of my library:

  • Local that will never be on a streaming service
  • Present in both local and streaming (often grouped)
  • Streaming only, rarely if ever to become local

I have significant overlap between local and Qobuz ( this will always be the case). Being able to identify what is not duplicated on either side of the local/streaming library point would be very useful ( to me, at least ).

In addition, knowing if a local album has a version elsewhere, but not currently in library would be very useful.

Arguably, a “no versions” filter on local would serve a similar purpose to no duplicates, but the nuance is if the streaming version is either available or currently in your streaming favorites.

These may tilt toward a matching approach, perhaps, but that is not the request here - they are in support of enriched insight and analysis of one’s library.

Thank you for your consideration of this feature suggestion.

If these features are important to you, please vote for the suggestion by using the Vote button at the top of the thread. Thank you.

I’m out of votes @Geoff_Coupe :man_shrugging:

I wanted to highlight these explicitly.

Plus, “Not Duplicates” was accidental and pulled back. I want(ed) to make it an actual feature request. I could not find a reference for “Has Versions”.
