Focus sorts by first letter, not by name

In my “Classical” focus, Antonio Vivaldi is listed in the "A"s, when he should be listed in the "V"s. Bernard Haitink is listed in the "B"s. And so on.

Why is this?

In Settings/General you can toggle to search Artists or Composers by First/Last name.

Crazy. Why is that not the default setting?

Thanks for pointing that out!

It probably should be as I suspect most users would wish it that way.
One for @Mike to note.

Hey @Mike_Pinkerton – good feedback across the board, so keep the questions coming.

Can you explain where you’re looking here:

In the Composers view, we sort to last name by default. In the albums view, we sort to first name, and I think these are sensible defaults for pop and classical fans alike.

Both are configurable, but I suspect we might hear a bit of confusion is we sorted Otis Redding albums next to The Rolling Stones by default. And if your collection is primarily classical, I can absolutely understand wanting last name sorting across the board.

Yeah I was looking in the album view, IIRC.

Now that I stop and look at iTunes, it has the same behavior that I was complaining about. I’m not sure how I never noticed it until Roon, or why it stuck out now and didn’t before.

Let me use Roon a little more and see what my natural expectations drift towards having already flipped the pref that Andy told me about…
