I am Japanese. I am using the translation function, so there may be some strange things. Please understand.
I have attached a 2.5” SSD to the ROON server to add CD sound sources, but the screen looks like this and does not show any folders on the control side or on the server side.

Could you please clarify whether the SSD you connected to your Roon Server is brand new, or if you had already written music files to it before attaching it?

If the SSD was used previously, we’d also appreciate it if you could let us know which device you used to copy the files — was it a Windows, Mac, or Linux system?

@vadim Thanks for the reply.
The ssd was bought new from Amazon.
I installed it on an intel nuc without loading any music files etc on the ssd.

Can you try attaching the hard drive to a different computer and see if you can access it? I want to figure out if this is a problem on Roon’s end.

@daniel 2.5インチssdをusb変換で普段使っているwindowsにつなげてフォーマットしたところ接続、書き込みも問題なく行えました。roonの保存フォルダを選ぶ画面では他の方の動画などを見ると最初から何かしらは表示されているようなのでこれはroon側の問題なのではないかと思っています。

To use the SSD with Roon, you would need to format it from the Web UI menu. Do you see the drive show up there and do you have an option to format it?

If it’s a fully formatted drive, there is no folder structure.

Please try to move some music directly to the NUC drive using the following guide.

  1. Connect to Roon OS:
    Roon OS exposes a shared network folder called Data. You can access this SMB share by following the steps below:
  2. On Windows:
  • Open File Explorer > Network
  • If you see “ROCK”, double-click it
  • If not, type \\rock\data in the address bar (not the search box) and press Enter
  1. On Mac:
  • Open Finder > Go > Connect to Server
  • Enter smb://ROCK or smb://[IP Address of your ROCK]
    4.(do not include brackets)*
  1. If prompted for login:
  • Username: guest
  • Password: guest

  1. If you receive an authorization error: Let us know about it

  2. Once connected, you should see the Data directory. From there, open the Data folder and you should see your ‘Internal Music Storage’ folder - which is where you should see your external drive. You can drag and drop your music files into this drive/folder.
