Description of Issue

Every day I have to reset ARC both on cellular and Wi-Fi.
I turn on the computer and after 1-3 tracks the connection to my Roon Core disappear.
After the reset it will sometimes play for a couple of hours or more but not always.
There is no problem with port forwarding.
Sometimes when using Roon Remote in my home the computer close down Roon.
Happens almost every day.
Tried installing ARC on two different IPhone SE but the issue is still there.
Using 4G on my IPhone with good to very good signal reception.

Hi Menzies,

Thanks four your answer !
I have thought about that too but the connection drops very often when my son is using the computer. Yes I’m using his gaming computer for my Roon Core. Neither he or the computer tends to go to sleep😉.
The Roon Core shuts down occasionally when at home doesn’t necessarily explain the ARC problem. That’s my theory.
I tried to use ARC with Wi-Fi at home today and it played for an hour now. Perhaps the problem is only with cellular connection ?
Kind regards
Robert

Hi again,

Yes that is almost always the case.
I will try to chance priority for Roon to “ higher than normal”
See if that helps.
Thanks for helping out !

Kind regards
Robert

Not an iPhone user here but, is there a battery optimization setting on your iPhones? Maybe turn that off for ARC. Might also look at “background app refresh” setting?

Also, this shouldn’t be an issue but, are the phones getting hot using ARC? I think this would only be an issue playing videos for a long time but worth noting?.. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

If someone else is using a computer while Roon is running any number of things they start on it could impact Roon. Games taking control of audio, running a VPN (especially for gaming), game overlays that affect audio and/or networking.

Have you thought about a dedicated machine for Roon?

Hi @Robert_Lidstrom,

I wanted to check in to see if you’ve seen any improvement in this behavior after trying some of the steps suggested above. We’ll keep a lookout for your response. Thank you!

Hi,
Initially there was some improvement but lately it has started to crash again.
I did change the priority setting for Roon on the PC.
The advices on changing settings on IPhone I didn’t really understood how to do.

Kind regards
Robert
