Forcing Roon Server onto SSD Volume in QNAP

Yep, there’s absolutely nothing to worry about with 24/7 operation.

Any particular reason you put your music on the SSD? It’s not going to improve performance and is going to be quite limiting when your library grows. You’re also missing out on RAID fault tolerance.

that may be correct, i’m no expert, but the behaviour doesn’t seem right. I have another, older QNAP NAS which is more heavily loaded both with applications and data. This occasionally finds time for the HDDs to go into standby.

I just decided to put everything Roon/music related on the SSD. I have x2 SSD at the moment and x2 spare slots so it can grow a fair amount. probably not the most economical but in relation to most audio kit, not so bad. I also do separate external backups regularly. In the end, this “strategy” didn’t work as the Roon Server qpkg is forced onto the System volume by default

Where did you find the RoonServer qpkg? I can’t find it anywhere.

Thank you!

How big of an USB SSD drive do i need for the “RoonServer” share?

i use 512GB but depends on your DB size i would think even 80GB are quite OK for the DB.
