Describe the issue

Update of any software/hardware in the system-chain causes Roon to stop communicating

System:
MacBook Air(Sequoia 15.1.1) serves as core
Sonos v 16.5.1 controls most of speakers
NAD M50.2
Tidal subscription
EERO 6.51.2 (2)

several times a month, whenever any hardware/software vendor updates the chain gets broken and Roon will not connect with speakers/Sonos. Sonos and NAD will continue to run the audio/system just without Roon connection. BluOS will allow the NAD to talk to its audio-output just not with Roon-connection. Only solution todate has been to reboot every element in the chain. Only takes about 30 minutes……. about 50% of the time that works. Otherwise I wait about 2 weeks and something in the chain gets updated and I get a pleasant surprise that Roon is now working. I have also tried making my wifi discoverable, but doesn’t seem to have any impact.

Roon continues to provide enjoyment, but the frustration is getting to point where having to consider whether to continue subscription.

Have considered Roon nucleus if it would resolve everything. However, don’t want to spend the $$ to now have another element in the chain that creates further complexity/failure/frustration.

Appreciate any wise counsel……….

Describe your network setup

as above - in addition the EERO has the base and four extenders.

Hi @Patrick_Rankin,
Thanks for reaching out to us about this issue. I think we will need to do a deeper investigation to troubleshoot this. We want to compare logging between when your system is in a working state and when it is in a non-working state. So can you please provide us with a date and time when everything is working and a date and time when it isn’t working to allow us to compare?

I don’t think that buying a Nucleus is likely to solve the issue. So my advice would be to hold off on that purchase for now.

Daniel,

Thanks. It is not working today (even to system output). I’m pretty sure it was working last Monday…

Thanks…

Daniel,

Quick update. It started working today. I had restarted my computer earlier in the day. Then after the Roon update today it stopped working. However, with restarting just the computer things are fine again. I can certainly live with just restarting the computer and not every piece of equipment in the network-chain. …

Thoughts? and thanks…

Hi @Patrick_Rankin,
I’m glad you were able to find a workaround for now that is not too burdensome.

I will create a ticket with our development team to investigate your logs from these periods and let you know what they tell us.
