Hey @John_Westenberg,

Thanks for writing in, and welcome to the Roon community! We’re excited to have you here, but we apologize in that it’s an issue that prompted your initial post.

We’ll need more information around your network setup - how is your ROCK connected to your primary router? What devices are having issues connecting to your ROCK - and how are they connected to your network / router?

As a first step, please reboot your router, and confirm all your Roon devices are running on the same local network and subnet.

Do you have any active firewalls or third party security software active on your remote devices? If you temporarily disable it, do you still run into any connectivity issues?

We’ll be on standby for your reply and results - thank you! :raised_hands:

I’m using an Asus Mesh Router and the core and i have the NUC core connected directly to it using a CAT 8 cable. Our internet went down for a brief period (<5 min) and everything cam u back up with the exception of my roon core. Gave it a few minutes and tried rebooting the Roon Core manually. Nothing. I don’t like doing this because I’m not doing a software reboot, rather I’m power cycling the NUC which is not good for it. I had no choice, however, because I could not connect via IP.

I didn’t think to reboot the router because everything was back up except the Core & didn’t want to disrupt the household.

After and hour or so, the Core suddenly reappeared. As I said this well after everything else in the house had been up and running for a while. Not the first time this has happened. The NUC was purchased expressly to run ROCK and it’s less than 2 years old.

@John_Westenberg can you replace your Cat 8 cables with Cat 6 or 6a cables? Cat 8 cables specifically are designed for datacenters for extremely high-speed connections, and have a grounding capability that is not present in consumer equipment. This mismatch with what the cable expects to see (via its grounding capability) and ungrounded consumer Ethernet equipment can cause disruptions in the network connections. This may provide a more stable connection long-term.

Hi @John_Westenberg,
I agree with what @Robert_F wrote. Can you try the Cat 6 cables and let us know if you see any improvement?

ok, i’ll give it a try.

Although these cables are supposed to be backwards compatible with CAT 5 & 6.

Hi @John_Westenberg ,

Those look like shielded cables which can sometimes cause issues. Yes, do try the CAT6 and let us know how the system performs!
