· I am experiencing frequent dropouts when playing in a group. I have a Wiim Ultra and a Wiim Pro plus. Dropouts occur roughly 10 seconds into a track and Roon skips down several tracks to resume. Happens whether playing a playlist or single album. Problem seems to be with the Ultra.

· AT&T Fiber. Deco wifi. Ultra and Roon minipc run off of ethernet from the Deco
Wiim Utlra is attached to a Deco node via ethernet. Node connects with the main Node & Router via Wifi. Of note, the Pro Plus runs exclusively on wifi. I’ve thought of trying the Ultra on wifi only as well to see if that helps.
Forgot to add, the dropouts do not occur when playing to the device solo. Only in a group. Tried disconnecting the ethernet. No help, still occurs. Wifi signal is excellent on both devices.
The WiiM Pro Plus is via WiFi and could be connected to the primary Deco so will less likely dropout as it has less hops.
You may be lucky to get away with your current setup when using just one of the WiiM’s, but the number of hops and WiFi backhaul is quite possibly the likely culprit here.
Ideally you need to connect the Roon minipc to the primary Deco (router). Ideally you would benefit from using Ethernet for backhaul between the Deco units. Then connect the WiiM’s via Ethernet.
If you can set things up like this, it will mostly likely help.
I appreciate running Ethernet between the Deco units (if possible, model dependent) is tricky for some and makes the idea of a WiFi mesh system pointless, it’s Roon’s demand on the network here that gives some trouble.
This fixed the issue. Attached both devices to the same wifi node and so far the problem hasn’t recurred. Would like to eventually hardwire ethernet to the various rooms, but this will do until then. Thanks so much.
