Well, this is a little rant - obviously not in support, as that would make no sense.
After years of Roon with ups and downs and slow and quick times as a user experience. All was relatively ok and Roon was more less doing everything it should in a timely manner. So I got this great (stupid) idea, maybe if I use Rock on my Nuc instead of Windows 10, all will be even better. So I installed Rock, used the backup - took a while - but the Roon was incredibly slow again - music would stop - search was not usable. Showing the discography would take forever. So I thought XXX I must ave done something wrong. Fiddled, grew more and more frustrated. Called a friend - and his system was also super slow again, even though it had been ok the past days. So it was not actually my installation Roon was having its “calling home and getting stuck” phase again.
This morning 8:00 Roon was perfect again, all was snappy. Miracle fix.
It is 12:10 again and the miracle is over - Showing a discography of an artist now takes 31 seconds. I have the Google DNS - obviously it has to do with traffic back to the homeland of Roon.
I have a Premium provider for premium cash and a very fast connection. As usual everything except Roon is perfect. I have had this routine many times in the past.
Support - it is your network. But time has shown, updates of Roon have changed the situation dramatically - on the very same network. Depending on the time of day, also changes Roons behaviour - even though all here stays the same.
Ok full disclosure, I have a library plus Qobuz.
It is a shame that after all these years - Roon still has these problems. So my love/hate relationship just continues. When it works Roon is simply marvellous, but when it does not, it is extremely frustrating.
It simply cannot be my setup, if someone in a different part of town, with own network and own collection etc has the same slow times, I experience.
It has become a part of our conversations - how is your Roon today? Ah really good - or on another day - driving me nuts.
Ok this is the end of my little rant - maybe it will help people with the same problem, to give them the feeling they are not alone and it will pass.
