Btw, why does Roon run the music through the Core?
Because DACs and streamers may not support all formats (some are difficult like DSD, some need a lot of horsepower like very high res, some are proprietary, some on principle like MQA), may not have the horsepower to do DSP (room correction, level adjustment, crossfeed…), and cannot do synchronization across device brands (for full-house party mode).
And this is not just a legacy problem, we increasingly see very small and inexpensive devices.
