Describe the issue
I have a galaxy tab 9+ I have other remotes working perfectly Apple, S2 and windows PC all work fine but the tab9 does not find the server, it does sometimes then cannot connect unless I restart Roon then after a while it connects but slow. The Apple air play does not show either. after connection if I close the remote app and try to reconnect the same thing happens. Tried rest to manufacture settings no good static IP address still no good.
Describe your network setup
Antipodes Oladra with Roon wired to router. Remote wireless to router strong signal
Thanks for reaching out. I’m looking over your account and I noticed that your Tab 9+ is the only device that didn’t seem to have an IPv4 address assigned to it last time it was active.
Do you have a duel IPv4/6 setup on the Tab? Or a VPN active/installed? Multiple networking interfaces?
Hello Noris,
Thank you for your response.
I have tried static and DCHP with no success. I do have a VPN but switched off. Only IPv4 activated.
BUT
I noticed today as I have given up on the tab9+ (for the moment) and installed Roon on a laptop MSI I only wanted the Player app not the server but Roon seems to bypass that all and sets up a core without me requesting just the player…! Which is when I noticed it could see the MSI laptop as another Roon Core on the tab9+ showed up straight away no fuss.
Also
I have two Antipodes Oladras in two homes both running Roon Core now both play without the deauthorise issue, bit odd as normally I have to deauthorise one owing to one subscription.
I think the Roon on the Oladra does not like the tab9+ for some reason…
Just tried a static IP and see seeing the MSI banged straight in looking for searching for Roon OS server provides no results?
SUCCESS well for the moment I hope
I authorised the MSI laptop server via the Tab9+.
Then MSI laptop could not connect to Roon.
Reinstalled Roon onto MSI laptop and then deauthorised MSI server by the MSI Laptop.
MSI could connect to Oladra Roon Core, “Hurray”
But more importantly the Tab9+ connects to the Roon Core in the Oladra and fast like a second or so.
All I can assume is for some reason the authorisations got mixed up and Roon HQ was blocking the Tab9+
WHICH
Begs the question what is the best way to switch between two cores?
I have been lazy and did not sign out only to get the message to deauthorise one core.
First, to answer your questions concerning roonServer migration, see here:
Ok, let’s clarify where you’re currently running RoonServer. Diagnostics do not show that the Antipodes server is online at all, but they do indicate that your MSI is hosting an active RoonServer instance. If you want to test the Antipodes line-of-sight to the Tab 9+, then we’ll first need to set the Antipodes back up as a server.
Based on symptoms, it sounds like that particular Antipodes unit - the Oladra in your current location, to which you’re attempting to connect the MSI and tablet as Remotes - might be suffering from slow SSD failure. Try to get it online, and we’ll pull logs to see what’s happening.
Hello Conner,
I have switched on the Antipodes Core Server (I only leave it on when I am listening to music, so it was offline when you checked). I leave it on until I hear from you.
The only Issue I have is with the 9+ tablet not finding the Antipodes core server.
Yesterday, I found if I were to restart the Antipodes Core server waiting say 20 30 (ish) seconds if I caught it at the right moment the 9+ tablet would connect and work perfectly until that is when I stopped the remote amp on the 9+ tablet and tried to reconnect…I then was not able to reconnect.
The SSD is quite new under a year old and not used 24/7.
I have no idea why my MSI is acting like a server I only want to used it as a remote but not a deal breaker.
So to reiterate the S9+ tablet finds it hard to connect to the Antipodes core server it’s like some firewall is blocking it to the Antipodes for some reason but I can connect if I reboot Roon on the Antipodes and catch it at the right moment. If that helps?
Well I have just tested the Tab S9+ on the second Antipodes. Different Home
ALL other remotes connect to the Antipodes Roon Core server…what ever wireless network.
However the Tab S9+ does not connect unless connected to the DrayTek wireless network.
The other wireless networks I have connect via wired Access point through a network switch all TP Link then to the DrayTek Router.
On the other Antipodes Roon Core server which is a internet provider router the Tab S+ does work either.
It seems that the only wireless network that the Tab 9S+ likes with Roon Server is provided by a DrayTek ???
Unfortunately, we’re still not seeing any instances of an Antipodes device tied to your account. As a best next step, could you please reproduce the issue, share the date, and time, and then please use the directions found here and send over a set of Roon Server logs from the Antipodes to our File Uploader?
