Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?
· None of the above quite fits
None of the above quite fits
· None of these quite match
Tell us what's going on
· After playing from Roon running on Mac Server to any WiiM device (Ultra, Pro Plus, Pro, Mini) the output gets garbled and requires stopping changing tracks and restarting music then going back to same song it is fine.
Tell us about your home network
· All Wiim devices and Roon server are 2.5G Ethernet connected. Internet is over 2.2G consistently. Music streams are Tidal, Qubuz and local Apple Music
Hey @Audidood,
Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report! We’d like to take a closer look at what might be happening behind the scenes, if you could please bring your server back online, we’ll enable diagnostic mode.
In the meantime, I would also try:
- Test with only one streaming service (e.g., only Tidal) to see if the garbling is service-specific or happens across all of them
- Try a local file from your Roon library (not Tidal/Qobuz) if local files never garble, the issue is upstream buffering/streaming, not your network or WiiM
Does it happen on
all WiiM devices simultaneously, or one at a time? If only one device garbles while others are fine, suspect that specific unit
- Test with just one WiiM as the only Roon output, this rules out grouped zone/sync issues
I would also review:
- In Roon → Settings → Audio, check the sample rate and bit depth limits set for each WiiM zone. Try capping at 48kHz/24-bit to reduce processing demands
- Disable any DSP or convolution filters temporarily — these can cause buffer underruns that manifest as garbled audio
Thanks @Audidood
