General question re updates

I run my Roon nucleus + core at various times from two Macs and one PC. When I’m prompted to “update all” with a new version, should they all be powered up, or does it not matter?

It really doesn’t matter, the desktop clients get their update notifications from the Roon core server so the desktop clients should not update until the server does.

Mobile is a whole different game as they update from the Apple and Google stores.

Yes, but what happens if the core gets updated but some of the clients are not powered on?

Normal the clients see the update when they connect to the core and offer you the updates at that point. All is good with this as I have a lot of computers and some of them rarely get turned on.
But within minute of me opening the Roon App I get offered the download and it is usually installed within 30 seconds.

I think the term “update all” throwing you, it means All the services (Client, Server and Bridge) installed on the current computer and Core not all the others devices where Roon is installed, they will get their own installs.
Hopefully this now makes more sense
