Genre suddenly not getting added to new imports [Fixed]

Odd problem. Any new music file imports, FLAC for example, to the roon library, the reviews, artist info etc all get identified as usual, except genre. Roon displays the existing genre tagged to the files, but not adding it’s own to albums. Also, if re-identify previous albums, Roon’s added genres disappear. This only started happening couple days ago I think.

I can confirm this too. No Genre in Tidal albums I’m adding as well.

In another thread, Roon is apparently updating the data on their servers. I’m not sure if this is related, but it scheduled to be finished Sunday morning 3 am EDT.

@brian is this related?

Cheers, Greg

Thanks for reporting this. We are working on it now.

This is not related to the NL issue. It looks like it may be the result of some recent server-side performance work that rolled out at the same time.

I’ll update once we have an ETA for a fix, but I’m guessing it will be Sunday afternoon EDT.

This fix just rolled out a few minutes ago.

Albums imported or identified in the past ~48 hours that have missing genres should fix themselves automatically over the next several days.

Alternately, you can force the data to update immediately using the “Re-Identify” button for any affected albums.

Thanks Brian. Confirmed, Re-Identify works.

The only tags I get for an artist or an album are those from file tags. If I uncheck in settings the option to include file tags, I get no tags at all. And, even with file tags checked, I’m no longer getting any tags for Tidal albums. Roon used to have its own file tags. What happened to them?

Hi Louis,

Is this your issue?

Cheers, Greg

Yes, that’s it exactly. I guess I’ll just have to wait a few days to see if things are corrected.

Thanks,
Louis

or display the album, then click the Edit pencil on the right side of the screen and then select Re-Identify.

If you have lots, then you can wait.

Cheers, Greg

Or Multi-select
