I am splitting sound out from apple tv via toslink from an octave switch, running to rme digiface , coverting to usb to the pc music server. Will roon see the rme as an input.
I dont have roon on the pc at the moment
I have a digital crossover in jriver but getting sound through that is quite fiddly and streaming musuc from tidal etc is also fiddly… it also seem to add to latency.
I can create the crossiver convolutions for roon fir the 4 way speakers system so that part is fine.
It appears from other posts that people have used rme digiface but I was just making sure
Thanks
Phil
As standard roon doesn’t support inputs.
There are a couple of add on solutions that create a ‘radio station’ that can then be streamed to roon endpoints.
The downside is the roon buffers radio stations - so you get around five seconds latency.
It’s ok for listening to vinyl, or streaming podcasts etc - but obviously useless for anything requiring picture sync!
You will get a terrible delay so if for TV sound I would not bother as it will be out lf sync by quite someway that you can’t correct for.
Thanks for the responses … latency is already a killer with convoluted xover audio
It is an insanely difficult problem … I have a black magic pcie card and telestream software for video delay so I can correct but it is not a set and forget system
I dont get why its all so hard
