Getting my Exasound server to see the internal storage

I’ve been happily using my Exasound server (details below) for years. I discovered last night that some of my obscure ripped albums weren’t showing up, and after a bunch of poking, find that the only drive it’s crawling is an external USB plugged into the server, not the internal storage.

I spent hours going in circles with Claude and Terminal, to no avail.

I’ll try to attach the relevant screenshots. I’m sure I’m missing something obvious and help is appreciated! Thanks.

You shouldn’t use a Samba (network) share to connect to internal storage as the drive can be mounted directly.

Under Settings → Storage you should see the drive. If it has dissappeared, the drive may have failed. Use the + Add folder button to navigate to the correct location?

Is the mount folder present?

thanks for getting back to me. The drive hasn’t failed, I can access it over the network via my Mac.

I don’t see it under settings->storage, hence the problem.

Not sure what you mean by the “mount folder”

If the drive is in the same device running Roon server, the drive should be mounted to a file path. For example, on a Nucleus One, the drive is mounted at \NUCLEUSONE\Data\Storage\InternalStorage.

If you visit the Exasound’s web interface, and select Local Storage, this may show the path. Otherwise, you may need to browse from the Roon app, Settings → Storage, then click the + Add folder button. At this point, sharing a screenshot may help.

seth_Godin1, please contact exaSound for support via https://www.exasound.com/AboutUs/ContactUs.aspx

When I visit settings → storage, I see the attached. When I try to add a folder, it’s only for a folder on the drive that’s recognized, the external one. So I’ll need to add a new drive. But the internal drive, Disk2, doesn’t have a path I can find. So that’s my question–how do find the text to put into that path so it will look at its internal drive.

thanks @mjw

For some reason, Roon can no longer access thd original drivd, SOLID STATE. You could try using the edit link, or leave that alone, and click Add folder.

When clicking on Add folder, click on delta to the root folder to see if you can locate your music files (you say you can access them on your Mac, so they should be there, somewhere.)

If you still have trouble finding the folder, I’ll point you to Roon support.

adding a folder only allows you to add a folder on an existing volume. The volume it sees, the Transcend, isn’t where the rest of the music is. As I said, that’s an external drive, and the music I’m trying to connect to is on the internal drive.

So, we are back where we started. I can’t add a volume.

Okay, I think you’ll need to reach out to Roon support (or Exasound.)

To equip the Roon Technical Support team to assist you directly, please follow this link to provide the details of your case to Technical Support: Technical Support Request

Respond to the prompts there to ensure that you’ve performed basic troubleshooting and to ensure Technical Support has the full details necessary to expedite Technical Support’s investigation into the case.

Your responses will auto-generate a Community thread in the appropriate section.

Persistent flailing paid off!

When I used the suggestion of smb://DELTA.local/Disk2
combined with the name the server gave to the share (playpoint)
and a password I added, it worked.

Error messages weren’t helpful, but as usual, this community came through.

Thanks.

In theory, you should be able to mount /Disk2. Exasound should explain why the local mount isn’t visible, but Samba is.
