Getting Roon to work with audioengine HD3 speakers

The mac is recognizing the speakers after I go into MIDI input, and when I turn them on and they’re plugged into the USB input on the mac they pop up as a usable endpoint under Roon. However, I cannot get any sound to come out of them. THe signal path is reading lossless, but no sound, even if I crank it on the volume control on Roon as well as on the speakers.

Anybody can help out?

Thx
Matthew

Hello @Matthew_Partrick,

Are you able to get sound from other applications on your Mac? In the “Device Setup” page for the AudioEngine HD3 endpoint, do you have “Exclusive Mode” enabled or disabled?

Hello @Matthew_Partrick,

Are you able to get the Audioengine HD3 speakers to play sound using other applications on your Mac? Do they play when using an analog input such as the RCA/Aux input or with the Bluetooth input?

I finally got this thing working through the Mac. It was playing through BT no problem, and I honestly don’t know what I did beside unplug and start from scratch, but it’s working now.

Final question: In the signal path, it’s lighting up as “high quality” saying it’s still going through the OS mixer as the final portion of the path. Isn’t there a way to fix that too?

Thanks!
Matthew

Hello @Matthew_Partrick,

Make sure to enable the “Exclusive Mode” option in Device Setup.
