I believe this idea has been brought up before but thought I would add my impressions. I had a spare set of speakers and a Hifiberry Amp 2 on a Raspberry Pi endpoint so just for fun, hooked them up behind my main listening system and grouped them. With the volume lowered on the Pi system, there’s actually quite a nice on demand surround sound sound filling my 24’ square room. Not noticing any lag or timing issues between the two systems. It’s a nice ambiance enhancer for winter nights with the fire blazing.
