Network worked great for years before disk failure
Audio Devices
MyTek Liberty DAC via USB, Oppo UDP-205 via ethernet
Library Size
170 GB of Music, mostly AIFF and FLAC
Description of Issue
Given topic, I have deleted and reinstalled Roon and Bridge apps. I have gone thru all Help articles on remotes failure to connect. All devices (iPhones, iPads) on same network, and previously worked great. Roon core on iMac configured to accept Remote connections.
Need some advice on how to proceed!
Thanks!
Forgot to provide this important stuff!
2TB Fusion Drive: 2 TB spinning drive portion (Seagate) failed. Replaced with Samsung SSD 870 QVO 2TB, and Time Machine backup from external drive loaded via Migration Assistant.
Most likely you need to restore a separate database backup, from your Roon install. TimeMachine will not provide a consistent backup or restore of the database.
Locate your database and rename the RoonServer folder.
Then try and start up your Roon software anew. And you dont need/want the Bridge component, it is included in both the full package called “Roon” and also in the “Roon Server” package.
Just to confirm, are you able to use Roon okay from the Core machine directly and it’s just remotes that aren’t connecting? Or are you not able to use the Core machine to control Roon either?
I renamed Roon folder in Mac OS Library to RoonServer and restarted iMac but problem persists. I can see most network output devices under Settings/Audio, but not my iPhone or iPad.

I can play music through all of the networked devices, but not the iPhone or iPad.
That’s not what i wrote.
Shut down Roon on your Mac.
Uninstall the app (All Roon apps)
Rename Roon folder to “Roon_old” or similar, and “Roon Server” to “Roon Server_old”. You should be able to find these from the description in my previous link.
Restart your Mac and download the latest release of “Roon” for MacOS.
Install this, and start fresh or try and restore a good backup of your database.
That should do the trick!
The steps outlined by Mikael are what I actually performed, although my answer was too succinct to reflect this.
Problem was solved on both iPhone and iPad by going thru the Roon Connect dialog on each device. When asked “did I really want to change cores?” I replied Yes and repeated the scan with success!
My previous thinking was that I still wanted to use the Core on the iMac, but the Core in fact had been moved to a new SSD and had to be re-connected.
