Based on comments I’ve been reading elsewhere, I decided to turn MQA processing back on in Roon. So, in Settings/Services, I set Tidal streaming quality to Master. And in Settings/Audio/Roon Ready/Pro-Ject Stream Box device setup, I set MQA capabilities to Decoder and Renderer, and under Advanced, I set Enable MQA Core Decoder to Yes. I’m streaming from Roon Rock to a Pro-Ject Stream Box S2 Ultra connected via USB to an SMSL SU-10 DAC. When I play MQA files, the MQA indicator lights up and shows the correct sampling rate. More importantly, over several days of listening to MQA files at sampling rates of 96khz and higher, I have not experienced any dropouts. Not one.
Did I miss the memo where the staff at Roon announced a fix for MQA dropouts in some recent code upgrade?? Have others of you who’ve suffered from MQA dropouts noticed that they’ve subsided?
I’m guessing that now that I’ve posted this online to the group, the dropouts will return. That’s how karma works, isn’t it? But for now, I’m enjoying listening to dropout free Tidal files.
