I’ve built three Rpi3/HifiBerry Roon Bridges, but only one works correctly. Two are identical hardware: Rpi3s with HifiBerry Dac Plus Pro hats and using the same DietPi V143 build file.
The correctly working bridge settings look like this:
On the two that don’t work correctly, 352.8khz, 384khz and DSD128 are red and they will not down sample any DSD file or playback any file other than 44.1khz.
I can’t provide screen shots of the non-working bridges because after the last try at rebuilding they no longer show up under available network devices (one does show up under About).
Can you SSH in to one of the Pi’s that is not working right and issue ‘aplay -l’ from the prompt? That way we can see which card is seen by ALSA.
Also: did you enable the 384kHz kernel on all three Pi’s? (dietpi-config > 2. Audio) – and did you select the correct board overlay (‘Soundcard’ in DietPi) for the DAC+ Pro?
I’m on a Mac and use pibaker, which I believe can do it but from memory it has to write the whole SD card.
To be honest it would probably be quicker to write a fresh Dietpi and try reinstalling and see if it clears the issue. (Haha, or follow Rene’s advice - he always knows best )
Are you a Windows, Mac or Linux man? With ApplePiBaker on the Mac, you can create a backup of your card and reflash that to a different SD card of the same size.
But as @hifi_swlon says – usually it is quicker to just reinstall / reconfigure DietPI.
Well the fourth retry worked on the Dac Plus. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case on the Digi Plus. I thought these boards were identical capability wise (Digi+ vs Dac+), but apparently not.
