As a former Yggy owner, I can tell you that Mike Moffat would tell you that optical is probably the worst connection to use. Prior to the new USB module, he said that SPDIF was best. I haven’t followed the threads much lately, but I remember reading somewhere that he now thinks the new USB is on par with SPDIF. That said, you prolly want to have Schiit fix the optical connection in case you decide to sell it somewhere down the line.

Actually AES was Mike’s preferred input. I tried it and preferred gen 5 USB, both being fed from my Aries G2.
