I have a Naim DAC (and Naim Nait XS 2) running Tidal and Roon.
Naim DAC is not Roon Ready and I have tested many different options instead, now I use Naim NDX 2.
On the DACen there is a light for high definition (hd). If I play a song from Tidal Flac 48kHz 24bit 2ch the light’s on. But when I play the same song from Roon/Tidal it’s off, i e lower kHz.
The sound seems to be lower coming from Roon than from Tidal. But why, I cannot find an explanation anywhere. I have the standard settings.
Which Naim DAC do you have? (nDAC or DAC-V1?)
How is it connected to your NDX2?
How is the NDX2 connected? Ethernet? WiFi? S/PDIF?
The signal path is confusing - it seems to be routing via ‘This PC’ and ‘WASAPI Exclusive Mode’, which implies you are somehow using the PC’s sound card.
The NDX2 is Roon Ready, so you should be able to connect to it using your local network…
That signal path is odd NDX2 is a Roon Ready Streamer which means it should receive its stream over the network from the main Roon server. Here you are sending to a PC then its going to NDX2 via WASAPI which is windows, That makes no sense as the NDX2 has no USB in. Is the NAIM DAC still connected and have you just misidentied it in Roon, which model is it?
Hi again, I have tried almost every Naim gear available in Roon, I have also tried different Ifi gear as I have a Ifi ilink between the PC and my Naim DAC. If you know what I should choose instead I would be very grateful.
My Naim DAC is connected to Naim Nait XS2 as stated in the beginning.
In Roon I have tried many different Naim and Ifi options. In the pictures above I have chosen NDX 2.
I do not have a NDX, just to be clear.
This is my setup
PC - Ifi iLink - Naim DAC - Naim Nait XS2
How should I set it up in Roon to get at least the same sound quality as in Tidal?
I have Roon for life and would like to use it but if the quality is not as good as in Tidal I don’t think I will.
