I am looking to move my library from a Mac Mini to a dedicated W10 machine and are debating rather to use HDDs or SSDs. I foresee needing about 6TB, as I’m reripping my library in AIFF so I was also considering a software RAID like Stablebit Drivepool. My question is, should I get one massive HDD drive or use Stablebit Drivepool w/ multiple SSDs?
You should have a reliable backup of your library. If you’re able to manage to have that, then your question above becomes a matter of taste or what you’re able/willing to spend.

Yep! I already have a mirrored backup. My main concern was bottlenecks. Not sure if Stablebit would add one or reading from HHD would add one as well. I’ve used Stablebit w/ Plex running movie files, but that requires one large file to play at once while Roon is looking for smaller files (in comparison) to play more frequently. Thanks for your advice though.
I’d run the core with database on an SSD but you don’t need the speed of SSD to store the files on.
Noise is therefore a more important issue therefore.
