Which headphones do you use with this amplifier?
Nice bit of bling.

One box is the future… enjoy the Jazz
4 weeks on First Impressions
They are no doubt beautifully made , and sooooo comfortable. The included cable is a braided silver coated on that is super pliant and soft.
I have run through a lot of albums .
One review commented that the sound was “Polite”,I thought that was an odd descriptor but now after many hours I agree. The overall sound is neutral and natural, no overt bass, no overt treble. As if they are trying to be “nice to the listener”. Very detailed but in a “reserved” way
Silky smooth also comes to mind. They are excellent on classical especially solo keyboard . Solo vocal as well.
“If this was your only headphone would it tick all the boxes ?” Depending on your genre split yes. I have listened nothing else for 28 days and not missed it.
Inevitably they are not sympathetic to older poor recordings but what is, they sound better for poor stuff than my HiFiMan Arya & HE1000SE . Less treble maybe less apparent detail so easier on the ears.
Ordered: FiiO’s FT15 open-back planar headphones (replaces their FT5)

I’m excited about these. It’s been years since I’ve listened to planar headphones, and I think they’ll be a nice complement to my iFi iDSD Finale Headphone Amp/DAC and Grado GS1000i headphones.
Got the opportunity to trade in my Aeon noire towards a upgrade to the Dan Clark E3
really thinking about doing that since I like the Headphones but the Earpads are very worn out and they are from the 2020 batch that seems to suffer from channel imbalance sooner or later.
So probably just getting rid of them while i still get some money for them.
I would still keep my Meze Liric around as second headphones. But they also need new pads soon.
After a move to a 1 bedroom studio, I needed new headphones w/mic to keep the peace. I bought a Mezze 99 Classic with mic. They sound fine and the mic works fine, I was impressed with the lower weight compared to my Audeze LCD-XC which are heavy; even for one who has a thick tight head prop neck.
A good choice if my experience is anything to go off.
I never tried any of the other Meze product but they look to apply the built to last approach to all their product. I had a local dealer who had the Elites to demo so I just bit the bullet
I am now at 2 months and I have nothing but praise for the Elite’s. I have for the most part resisted the temptation to swap around to really get a feel for them.
Downsizing is at the back of my mind and I suspect a retirement village and BIG speakers won’t mix . They only have to silence me singing along !!
Thanks I haven’t see that
That interview made me appreciate Meze even more as a headphone manufacturer ![]()
I also wasn’t aware about the tuning differences between the Empyrean 1 and 2 and where the Elite sits between them.
I’ve also watched this Dan Clark interview today that is also very interesting . It’s not only about the E3 but planar technology in general.
The Empyreans and the Elites also come with 2 sets of pads , quite radically different shapes so they claim you get 2 headphones in one. The pads do change the tuning quite noticeably
My morning coffee headphone station in the kitchen.
Headphones, nothing fancy:
Audio Technica ATH-M50x with custom pads
Wth Chord Poly/Mojo2
Adequate sound whilst I have my three daughters make lots of noise making cups of tea and just them being them.
I have a pair of Empyrean 1’s (the “OG”). I bought the Angled Alcantara Ear Pads which were silly expensive at £170. However they have been an absolute transformation and have removed all the low-end bloat, resulting in only limited EQ now being needed compared to the OG leather pads. I now think it was money very well spent, considering the value of the 'phones.
Meze woke up I think, mine came with Angled Hybrid pads fitted and the thicker Alacantra pads in the case plus they included the silver coated cable as std that was another $500 saved. I further bought the 4 pin XLR version as spare since I have zero cables with little XLR fitting
I have tried both pads and I agree I prefer the angled ones.
They are really settled in now and sounding great.
Being typically excessive, last week I replaced my 14 yr old HD800 with a new HD800S that were on offer at a silly price
