Headroom feature modification

I thought of another suggestion… using the headroom feature in muse. It’s great that you can set custom negative gain per dac, but how about allowing a custom setting per song. For example…

Boom boom by john lee hooked… with headroom set to -12db, the music plays just fine but you can’t hear the vocals.

Sexyback by justin timberlake shows as clipping throughout the song at -12db. It needs to be reduced by at least -4 to -8db more.

At -12db I could play pretty much everything else that I tried…zepplin, george michael, pink floyd, miles davis, etc…

Some music, like the two examples that I showed above (doubtless there are many more) that would require going into muse and making adjustments per song/artist.

Here is my idea… the ability to set custom headroom attenuation per artist.

P.s. dont judge me on Sexyback, he sang that during a victorias secret fashion show…oh the memories…lol

But seriously though, would it be possible to do this in a future release.

Off topic in regards to the actual request of your feature suggestion, but seemingly on topic regarding the symptom you’re trying to cure with it.

It seems that you may be using some MUSE features like PEQ filters with positive gain values.
If so, you can cure your clipping problem by pulling down the gain slider to the right of the PEQ graph window, in order for the white filter result curve to top out a 0dB.

Then, if you’re bothered by the relative loudness differences between tracks, use the volume leveling feature to at least ameliorate that symptom.

Hi Martin,

How do I find volume leveling?

Thank you Martin. I didnt know where those were.

Seems the problem was with the dac. The left channel went out this morning. Returning it to amazon.
