Help Configuring Multiple Mac computers

Sorry if this has been covered or apparent, but I want to confirm exactly what to do before I do it.

I have a Mac mini M1 that I am wiping that will soon be my dedicated Roon Server which is currently hosting my Roon Server instance. Once I get everything off of it, I plan on backing up the database, wiping it, reinstalling Roon and my database, reconnecting to Tidal, and ripping all my CDs as FLAC files.

My new Mac Studio will be my main computer moving forward, so I would like to be able to use the Roon desktop app on the main machine while the Mac mini acts as the server.

Is this possible, or is the Roon Server machine the only one authorized to have the Roon desktop app on it? Any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
Mark

This is absolutely normal operation, and should work fine. Just be aware of the macOS settings > privacy & security > local network settings on Sequoia that are written about so much in here these days.

As DDPS stated, this is normal operating expectation. The server runs all the time on the network and you can use iPhones, iPads, MAC computer, Android devices, and PCs as “control remotes” to paly music to your endpoints (which can be all the above devices) via the appropriate apps for the platform the device runs.

Thanks guys! Installed and working. Now to the ripping!

What program are you using to rip? I would suggest trying dbPoweramp as it does a very good job.

Thank you- I will use that!
