Help running HQPlayer Desktop + Roon Server on Fedora 40

Hi Everybody, my very first post here!

I was wondering if anybody could help me troubleshoot my current setup. I used to run HQPlayer Desktop 5 and Roon Core on the same all-purpose PC workstation (with upsampling and convolution enabled) under Windows 11 with a SMSL D-6 AKM USB DAC connected to a Raspberry Pi serving as a NAA endpoint, no issues whatsoever with that configuration.

I’ve been wanting for a long time to primarily run Linux instead of Windows on said PC so I, of course would like to continue using Roon and Hqplayer in the same way I used to before.

I’ve finally gone ahead and switched just recently, I decided to go with a Fedora install (Nobara 40 specifically because I like the developers included Windows compatibility features) and I proceeded to install Roon server (native linux) and HQPlayer 5 Desktop (also native; downloaded Fedora 39.rpm from signalyst.com).

Here’s my issue: Whenever I try playing anything (both local files and streaming) through my HQPlayer zone on Roon, HQPlayer crashes immediately. I can play otherwise perfectly fine natively by using HQPlayer standalone likewise playing only through Roon. I would post my log file but I can’t seem to find it anywhere, I have enabled it in settings so if anybody could tell me where I can find it in Linux I’ll gladly post it here.

My only uneducated guess is since my distro installed is based on Fedora 40 and not 39 there might be some compatibility issue there perhaps but, that seems unlikely since like I mentioned earlier I can play music just fine without roon therefore I’m asking here.

I also read somewhere that RAATserver and HQPlayer can’t run at the same time on the same machine under Linux but maybe (and hopefully) I misunderstood that.

It’s unsupported, It should be fedora 39, for now

Since CUDA is supported on Fedora as well, I can only support Fedora releases that Nvidia also supports. At the moment, CUDA supports only Fedora 39.
