Hi res files aren't streaming to my audio streamer in the original hi res formats they were created in. My music steamer can handle hi res music file transfers. However the music on my streamer is defaulting to apple airplay which downgrades music files. I though that the roon software could handle transferring the music to my streamer in their original formats. Any thoughts.
Does your streamer have a Roon mode? If so turn it on. If it doesn’t then Airplay is the only way Roon will see it as Roon doesn’t support UPNP or NAA.

What you’re seeing usually means that Roon is only able to discover your streamer via AirPlay, which will indeed limit playback to AirPlay’s supported formats.
For Roon to send bit-perfect hi-res audio, the streamer must:
Support Roon Ready (RAAT) and be set to Roon mode
Roon does not stream to devices via UPnP/DLNA or generic network audio, so if a device isn’t Roon Ready (or isn’t in the correct mode), AirPlay is often the only available option.
To help clarify what’s happening, could you please let us know:
The make and model of your streamer
How it’s connected to your system (network, USB, HDMI, etc.)
Whether the streamer has a Roon / Roon Ready mode, and if so, whether it’s enabled
Which output you’re selecting in Roon → Settings → Audio
Once we have that information, we can confirm whether hi-res playback is supported in your setup and guide you to the correct configuration if it is.
