Using Roon Server 2.0 (build 1357) on Mac Studio, endpoint is Linn Klimax Exakt DSM.
Files are on locally mounted SSD same issue with files sourced from NAS.
Same files from NAS using Asset UPnP on same network work fine.
Playback is fine using Roon client on Mac Studio with Display as endpoint, so seems like a network/buffering issue but since NAS using Asset UPnP on same network works fine suggests its not a network issue. The NAS and Mac are on the same router.
The transfer across the wire is different. Upnp sends the compressed flac across to the endpoint, Roon unpacks it to pcm in the core and sends the uncompressed full file across.
So I’d say it’s a network issue.
How are the devices connected to your network? If it is WiFi you will most likely have far better results using Ethernet.
Thank you, I had not realised Upnp transmits compressed files. Anyway, I rebooted everything in the network chain and problem has now been resolved.
