I am using an Early 2015 Macbook Pro (2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, 8Gb memory, MacOS Monterey 12.7.6) as my roon server. Sometimes when I am running Roon RoonAppliance goes over 100 GPU% (over 200 sometimes) and triggers the fan on the computer for a long time. Is there something wrong with the way Roon is working on this computer?
Does the issue happen on any specific page in Roon? Can you please let us know the exact local time + date when you next observe the behavior? After having the timestamp, we can check Roon diagnostics to see if there is anything interesting happening in the logs around that time, thanks!
Thanks for sharing the above timestamp! It looks like right at that time, Roon is getting hung up on analyizing a specific track. It’s difficult to pinpoint the specifc track, but there is evidence it may be the following:
Volumes/Rafic Bittar's T7/Music/VinylStudio Collection/Van Halen/1984/05 - Drop Dead Legs.flac
It may also be the following tracks:
url=/Volumes/Rafic Bittar's T7/Music/VinylStudio Collection/Van Halen/1984/03 - Panama.flac
url=/Volumes/Rafic Bittar's T7/Music/VinylStudio Collection/Van Halen/1984/04 - Top Jimmy.flac
url=/Volumes/Rafic Bittar's T7/Music/VinylStudio Collection/Van Halen/1984/09 - House Of Pain.flac
If you temporarily remove this album from your original watched folder, and then perform a library clean up to perminatnly remove it from your Roon database, do you still run into issues? The Library Clean Up setting in Roon helps remove references to missing or unavailable files from your library without deleting actual music files.
