The Roon app on Android has a known bug related to gesture navigation that misinterprets a scroll as a page-turn swipe. This issue is particularly noticeable on the Now Playing screen when viewing artist biographies or credits. Scrolling down causes it to jump to the next page every time. I have checked all known setting on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 10+. The Roon application is the only one with this issue. This prevents me from reading the page. It appears this has been an issue for years reading Roon complaints. Any idea when this will be resolved??
Thanks for reaching out. I tried to search for similar reports to yours but I was not able to locate any, did you have any other related thread links to share by any chance? You mentioned seeing the issue on your Galaxy Tab 10+, is this the only Android device you have? If you have another Android device, can you please confirm if the issue occurs on the other device or if the issue is limited to the 10+? If you are able to record a short video of the behavior and upload it to our media uploader at the below link, it would greatly help. Thanks!
It’s not an android mobile phone or mobile Roon APK app. It’s a new Android Samsung 10+ Galaxy Tablet. Think iPad but the Android Samsung version. See link to the 10+ tablet information below. I’m using the Roon controller software application for my Nucleus One server.
My apologies @heintzmeister57 - although you could still download the Roon mobile app to test if the same issue occurs there.
In the meantime, we’ve requested a diagnostic report from your tablet, if you could please bring it online and open Roon - that would be helpful, thank you!
We’ve discussed this with our senior QA and development teams. The team is investigating some possibilities here and, as soon as that investigation is complete, we’ll be sure to follow up ASAP.
You have our apologies for the trouble here, and we’ve greatly appreciated your patience as we continue investigating this tricky issue. We’ll be in touch as soon as we can.
Thanks for checking in! I wanted to set clear expectations about the next steps. To fully investigate this issue, our team will need to gather the specific hardware on our end and try to reproduce the behavior you’re seeing.
Because this involves ordering and setting up the equipment, the process can take some time. Once we’ve completed that work and have more information to share, we’ll reach out with an update.
If this thread closes before we respond, please know that we’ll manually re-open it and ping you directly with updates.
We very much appreciate your patience in the meantime
The gesture in your video contained a subtle, almost unnoticeable diagonal motion. In other words, Roon ingested a horizontal component to the scroll, which it then interpreted as a separate, horizontal gesture. Tablets, with their larger surface area, are more sensitive to subtle horizontal data when scrolling, which is why users don’t have this problem as often on their phones.
The solution is for the team to calibrate how Roon interprets horizontal scrolling data when there is a simultaneous vertical component. This would accommodate for accidental horizontal motion when users are scrolling vertically through a list.
However, it’s worth noting that there’s no tablet-specific version of Roon. The team will have to make surgical changes that accommodate this scrolling on tablets without disrupting the user interface on smaller screens. This will take some time.
The workaround in the meantime, unfortunately, is to avoid horizontal motion on the tablet when making long scrolling gestures. I recognize how difficult that might be. The team is working to improve this user experience.
