How do I get a Nucleus One into a network with existing Roon Essentials core?

I would like to install a new Nucleus One in an existing network with a Roon Essential core (only) from ELAC (which then is only used as Playback Device).

Shall I logout the ELAC from my Roon account before switching on the Nucleus or can I run both devices on the same account simultaneously?

Shall I disconnect the ELAC core from the Roon essentials app before starting the Nucleus?

Hello @m.stobik1,

You do not need to log out of the ELAC Essentials Core in advance.

When you power on the Nucleus One and sign in, Roon will automatically detect that your account is already in use on another Core (the ELAC Essentials Core) and will prompt you to deauthorize it and switch the Core to the Nucleus. Only one Core can be active on an account at a time.

So the correct workflow is:

  1. Leave the ELAC running
  2. Turn on the Nucleus One
  3. Sign into your Roon account on the Nucleus
  4. When prompted, choose to move the Core from the ELAC to the Nucleus

After that, the ELAC will no longer act as a Core and will be available only as a playback endpoint.

One important note:
Roon Essentials does not require a Roon subscription, but Nucleus One does. Since your Nucleus trial period has already ended, you will need an active Roon subscription to continue using the Nucleus as your Core.

Let us know if you need help transferring your library or restoring a backup once the Core is moved.
