How do I play my own files & not Tidal all the time?

Hey there and hello I’m new.
How do I play my own files & not Tidal all the time?

Welcome. First, what kind of device are you using for Roon at the moment?

You can select only library track,

I believe it will pick the primary version of the album, so it could be Tidal if you have set this as primary

A ASUS VIVEOBOOK with Windows 11.

OK, so your music files are on the same device, most likely.

  • Did you add the folder where the music files are stored to Roon > Settings > Storage?
  • How do you play if it plays “Tidal all the time”? Playlists, Roon Radio, starting album playback manually?

We need some information to be able to help…

Good question! I’m trying to transfer from my mac to nucleus internal for week. They aren’t speaking.

Hello and welcome… I have the same issue where I have 4000 CDs on a storage server where I mix in some of my playlist and the media that is on my storage server and it gets replaced with Tidal

I updated the playlist with my own track… and it gets replaced by tidal’s version again.

My version is of a higher bit rate
So a bit frustrating

Thanks..
Matt

What if you just go to Roon - Settings - Services and disable Tidal and/or Qobuz when you don’t want to use them?

For albums I have in my local library as well as Tidal, there is a ‘versions’ tab which displays details including quality of each one. Annoyingly for me, I have the opposite problem in that it seems to default to my library version which is often lower quality than on Tidal. Perhaps there is a setting that influences this.

None of my 4,500 CD/FLAC ripped albums are added on Qobuz and Tidal (I have added thousands of albums I don’t own on there but no alt versions of stuff I do own, and I remove the streaming version if I buy something new). So if I own it on CD there isn’t even a streaming version in my library. That and massive smart playlists instead of using Roon Radio

No there isn’t and there is at least one topic in Feedback > Feature Suggestions

Thanks Jim
Thanks not the issue sadly
I have all my albums.. and they are fully accessible

The issue is if I create a playlist… Which includes both tracks from both TIDAL and my own library

Title replaces the tracks that are from my library and updates them with tracks from TIDAL… And that is not what I want

So yes… A feature would be great that would identify a preference of tracks of your own library when mixed with TIDAL in a playlist

Thanks..

Hello Suedkiez..
I could not find the topic there’s quite a few in there… But it looks like what you’re saying is that I’m not the first to flag this

I have never seen Roon use Tidal files instead of the actual ones in a playlist. (I have Qobuz and Tidal subs, and the only annoying thing is that releases outside my library default to Tidal when I want them to use Qobuz and I always want to add Qobuz versions. I only even have Tidal for like 150 albums that aren’t on Qobuz).

Do you have it set to prefer MQA or something like that that might cause it to seek Tidal versions? I have it set to prefer anything over MQA

I think one of these would fit and solve it for you
