Hi, I have a devialet 400 expert which sounds amazing when it works. I have recently moved and now the system will not work, I have heard that the Devialet AIR app is flaky and because I have no real knowledge or networking experience I have spent hours trying the get the system to work with limited knowledge and asking Chat GPT. I contacted Devialet but their responses are so slow, 4 or 5 days to reply so I realise they don’t give attention to real customer support and with a delay like this I pretty much forget where I was by the time they reply and as this is mostly a step by step process it would take weeks to resolve using Devialet.
People have recommended Roon to me, they told me it does not need Devialet AIR (supposedly the flaky component) so I installed a trial. I tried my best to set up my system but there was no walk through process or anything really for me to understand how to do this so I am back to square 1 with and issue and no support available from Devialet and apparently no way of directly contacting ROON to get help, I posted this as a last resort before I give up on Devialet , however I really don’t like organisations that don’t offer a direct support mechanism and offer only community forums.
In saying that, I would be grateful of anyone being able to tell me how I can get help from roon to setup my system.
Thank you
I have an old Devialet Expert 200 which sounds fantastic with my B&W speakers. Sadly the integration with Air & Roon is pretty flaky (I used ethernet, not wireless) I’m well versed in networking & streaming protocols, and had it working brilliantly for a while. However it started becoming unreliable for no discernible reason and I got tired of spending time troubleshooting. My plan B involves a Bluesound Node Nano which deals with the streaming from Roon & DAC duties plumbed into the Devialet. Completely solid with no issues at all. Whether the sound is better/worse I have no idea - Devialet native should be better on paper, but reliability was my priority. Any Roon ready DAC/Streamer with analogue or digital outputs would do the job.
Thanks for reaching out; we would be glad to help you set up your audio system.
Could you please describe the exact issue you are facing with your Devialet in a bit more detail? Specifically, does your Roon Server fail to see the device, or does it appear but fail to play audio?
Additionally, since you are hosting your Roon Server on a MacBook, we might not be receiving diagnostics automatically. To help us troubleshoot, could you please:
Reproduce the problem with the Devialet.
Note the exact timestamp.
