For example in the top level genre Reggae I have many sub-genres:
In several days of listening using both Play Now and Shuffle it’s only played songs from the top-level.
I’m wondering if this is by design or just co-incidence as I have a large number of tracks in the top-level genre?
Only played (for the time you listened) or added to the very long play queue?
I’m starting the queue from the top level genre page - Play Now or Shuffle.
The queue ends up being about 10 days long.
I’ve been doing this for several weeks now and haven’t heard anything except from the top level genre.
I’ve restarted the queue a few times after having listened to something else so I’ve never been through the entire queue but I have listened for 8-10 hours a day for several days from the same queue.
It’s quite possible it’s happenstance. I was just wondering if anyone has had sub-genre tracks play when starting from the top-level genre or if only top-level genre tracks get queued.
Have you tried adding all the sub genre to focus?

I never even thought to just queue up from the album page using genre focus.

Yeah I was thinking to scan the queue visually as it could have been just happenstance and listening takes ages. But it’s basically impossible to find out this way as well if albums are also tagged with the top level genre. I guess you found another solution and we will never know 
Yeah that was exactly why I wasn’t sure: Some albums are genre tagged with the top level and a sub genre and I was getting near dizzy scrolling through a huge queue trying to figure it out.
@RodS suggestion is golden though as I can now block sub-genres as well if I want to.
And fwiw I noticed after Focusing just the top level genre on the albums page I could see albums that are only tagged with a sub-genre so that leads me to think it was just luck of the draw that I wasn’t hearing sub-genre tracks when playing from the genre page.
