How do I stop why Roon from down sampling my files?

Hi! I’m getting a blue light in the signal path and and the signal path claims I have a 44.1 KHZ AIFF file when the file on my computer is 88.2 KHZ FLAC. My Ayre QB-9 also shoes a 44 KHZ sample rate. I would be grateful if you could suggest how to fix it. I’ll attach some screen shots. Thanks, Kent

Hi Kent,

In the Audio settings next to the Ayre, look under the Playback tab. Does it have Exclusive mode? If so, check it.

After that, select the appropriate Volume Control under General tab. If you’re playing through a receiver, you may want Fixed Volume.

More info here.

See how that works.

Cheers, Greg

Thank you, Greg! I followed your suggestions and am now getting the a full 88.2 KHZ.

I seem to have lost the ability to control the volume with my ipad. Is there a way to fix this problem?

I have an older pre-amp with no remote so it would be nice to use the ipad for volume control.

Thanks,

Kent

Hi Kent,

Yes, go back into Settings > Audio and under the General tab for the Ayre. Select Volume Control Mode.

I don’t believe the Ayre has Volume control, so your only other option is DSP control. The problem with that is if you lower the volume below 100%, your sample rate light will change to green. This is because Roon is now processing the signal.

Try experimenting and see what you think. You may not even notice any drop in quality.

Cheers, Greg
