How does Roon Nucleus One interact with a (Roon Ready) music streamer?

Hi folks I’m still new to Roon. Previously used a Macbook Pro as my Roon Server, outputting to my DAC (Ferrum Wandla) and headphone amplifier. My apologies for the ignorance.

I’m receiving a Lumin U2 music streamer which is Roon Ready and has native support for Qobuz/Tidal. The streamer transports music into my DAC/amplifier, replacing the Macbook.

If I introduced a Nucleus One into the chain (connected via wired ethernet), what actually happens when it delivers music data to the Lumin? Does the Nucleus One function as a streamer? In which case, what is the role of the Lumin being “Roon Ready” in this context? Sounds like the Nucleus One would stream music from my Roon database through the Lumin and into my DAC/amplifier (what does the Lumin do with the signals from the Nucleus One?)? I suppose ultimately I wonder if there’s any signal degradation from the Nucleus One through the wired ethernet and outputing through another streamer?

The Roon Server (e.g., Nucleus) is the heart of the Roon system. Everything goes through the server.

It implements Roon‘s streaming protocol and receives the data stream from the Roon Server.

No, it’s digital data. Transferring digital data between machines without changes has been a solved problem for half a century. Without it, the modern world wouldn’t work.
