How find "Brandenburg Concerto" recordings on Qobuz?

If I search for “Brandenburg Concerto” on Roon with Qobuz account I get a number of recordings (around 40) with the text in the TITLE

If I make the same search on Qobuz native software I get more albums that I can possibly scroll through (which is about right for this classic repertoire!). The difference is that the Qobuz native seems to pull up albums that contain these concertos but do NOT INCLUDE TEXT IN ALBUM TITLE.

Is there a way to make the Roon search more complete?

I get around 40 too. I tried searching using BWV 1046 (which is the first Brandenburg) and got 96 recordings.

There is a workaround, but it requires a number of steps:

Select composer in Composer view: Johan Sebastian Bach
Select Compositions , Filter on Brandenburg (Concerto)

You will get a list of the different Brandenburgr Concerto’s

Select one, as an example I picj Concerto no.1

I then have 96 versions available.

That’s an interesting workaround, thanks.

It works quite well. The main nuisance is that, after scrolling down the list of recordings, finding one to try, clicking on it and listening for a while, if you then click “back” to go back to find another recording, Roon takes you to the top of the list again. So you then have to scroll down to find the recording you were just listening too. And then scroll from there to find the next one you want to try. Grrrrr.

Maybe a workaround for that would be to scroll down without playing, adding prospects to a playlist. Then using that playlist as the basis for playback. First world problems.

Isn’t this what the Composition View is for , Composer Filter on Bach, Composition Filter on Brandenburg

It doesn’t get around the “going to the top” issue but it works simply as a Composition Filter

I have 680 recordings which is a very big difference. It’s also much closer to what I would expect. It is not uncommon for famous works to run into thousands.

I thought maybe the difference is that it includes a lot of partial recordings of one or two movements. When I double checked. Yes, there were a lot of partial recordings but in a lot of cases they seemed to be single movements that roon had not been able to group as complete works. I find this quite common with roon’s treatment of multi-part Qobuz recordings. I didn’t exhaustively examine the listing. Roon is full of loose-ends and quirks like this and life is too short. But if you have a Qobuz account a quick sanity check of famous works in the composition browser should lead to some very large numbers indeed if everything is working correctly. So for example, I get 1,833 Beethoven 5th’s and 2,980 Handel Messiah’s.

Yep, this complaint about not returning to the same scroll position has been brought up a few times. Hopefully Roon acknowledges it as a bug and will fix it.

If you want that bug to be addressed, better open a ticket. Otherwise …
