I want to be able to find all albums in my library from the label ‘Octave Records’. Most of my albums show up when I enter ‘octave’ into search and then click on the icon for the ‘Octave Records’ label. That shows albums filtered by a (label?) tag known to Roon as ‘Octave Records’. But four Octave albums that I have added in the last month aren’t included. I tried to correct this by editing the metadata information stored by Roon for Label for these four albums. There ‘Octave Records’ doesn’t show up in the dropdown for known record labels, so I can’t select it. Instead, I can type in Octave Records as an additional label, but even after doing so these albums still don’t show up with my other Octave records.
Next, I created a tag called ‘Octave Records’ and added that to my four errant albums. They show up as having a tag that includes the word octave, but they’re still not included with the other records known to be under the Octave Records label.
Well, that would be correct behavior since Tags are a separate entity to the Octave Record Metadata. What you could do is find all the other Octave Records you can search for and then in one go, give all of them the Octave Tag. That way you’d have everything under an Octave Tag.
I just tried this and as long as the Label is the exact spelling it will work, even if you don’t choose it from the label dropdown.
This is the issue that you need to investigate. I would suggest going to a known “good” album, going under Edit, scrolling down to the Label section and see what it says there.
I just checked, and this works for me with labels I add in the Roon editor, but if I switch in the editor to using the label from the file tag, then Focus does not find it
Thank you all for your replies and suggestions. The problem is gone.
Octave Records now appears in search and the drop down list under Edit Album->Labels->Additional Labels. It didn’t this morning. That selected, behavior is now as expected.
