How to avoid updates notification?

How can I stop getting that blue reminder at the bottom of all my Roon Remotes telling me that updates are available? I’ve set the update preference to “Ask before downloading any updates,” but I can’t figure out how to avoid this almost constant notification.

And no, I don’t want to update right now. Since the update to version 2.71 (build 1683) a month ago, this is the first time in many, many years that I haven’t experienced any (serious) issues with Roon. I don’t want to jeopardize that experience, as I (strongly) value stability over constant new features that don’t actually make my music listening any more enjoyable. I know and respect that many people does not agree, but please do not start a discussion about this.

You cant. If you dismiss the notification and later end the app session it will reappear is one device has not received the update.

Maybe open a request in Feedback > Feature Suggestions that ensures that once dismissed, the notification isn’t displayed again until the next update is released.

Wow! But thank you. Then I’ll have to live with the notifications… until it drives me or my family crazy.

But wow, why on earth does Roon not give you the opportunity not to get this notification, at least an opportunity to only se a notification for an update one time? For the past four or five years, I’ve constantly been longing for the next update, hoping it would fix one of the many problems. But now, honestly, I’d just prefer there to be no more updates.

No good asking me as I’m a user like you. Open a feature suggestion and Roon will read it. They may even act on it.

If you don’t want the notifications select automatic updates.

Thanks, no I did not expect you to be able to answer on behalf of Roon.

Perhaps I wasn’t clear: Roon staff do not monitor Roon Software Discussion.

Roon is not a traditional software application, like JRiver Media Center, that runs on your device independently.

A large portion of Roon’s functionality is in code that runs on virtual machines in cloud infrastructure rather than on your devices. If you disable updates, your devices will eventually no longer be compatible with the non-local components, causing lots of things to break.

Either this, or, if Roon Labs wanted to accommodate outdated user software, it would force them to invest/waste lots of resources on maintaining backward-compatible cloud infrastructure. It’s better to invest the resources into improving the code quality.
