How to get AM Radio quality sound?

One of my Roon endpoints is an old transistor radio with a raspberry-pi running Ropieee in my toilet. It starts playing when somebody switch on the light (Domoticz). Roon streams a radiostation that broadcasts old mastertapes from an AM Radiostation that was on the NorthSea in the 60’s and early 70’s (192 Radio). How nice would it be to have that old distorted AM sound? I’ve use the Procedural EQ to convert the stream from Stereo to Mono. Now the next step… add some fluctuating noise. Any suggestions?

Boost the EQ around 2 kHz, and lower everything else. Probably a bit of trial and error.

You could consider getting an actual low power AM transmitter on eBay, and using a real AM radio to listen! It’s more fun than it sounds
