How to install Roon on a windows server that has no graphics card (and cannot accept one)

The only answers I see are many years old…

Your thread was moved to the tinkering section where possibly members can assist as this is not a supported official hardware configuration for Roon Server.
Thank you for your cooperation.

Did you try RDP?

Thanks. I didn’t see a way to delete this or I would have. I’ve moved on to using a macbook pro in that room. But I’m about to give up. Every room has a PC or roon-ready receiver. All hardwired ethernet. The roon server is a beefy windows machine. Yet playback stops frequently (a PC on the net going to sleep maybe?). This software would be great but not if it requires near constant attention. Any hints would be appreciated.

And starting roon on an already running pc also stops all play. By design, or?

You might check that your PCs are all set to not sleep. Also, you can open a new Roon software discussion request with your new issue. I recommend including more details about your arrangement of server and end points.

Probably quite a trivial problem.
If you want the complex solution, you could virtualize your win server with proxmox and install the roon server on a lxc container or rock in a vm.

Not by design at all. Roon’s design is that all playback is drive by the server and you can independently use as many remotes as you like, without disturbing the playback.

Something is wrong with your setup

I admit to blurting out some frustration before even really investigating (errant assumptions!).

I had better luck after removing the two macbooks and setting all PCs to not sleep. I also noticed I fibbed that everything was hardwired. Two PCs and a mac are on wifi. Wifi is strong though, with an extender downstairs that’s plugged into ethernet. I’ve now configured the macs to not sleep and will check things out again today with everything in use. Should be fun!

Thanks
