How to listen to Victrola stream using Roon

Hello,

Ive just bought the Victrola stream Onyx.
It can output Roon so I thought I could listen to music with the app.

Is this correct?

I just started a free trial to see if it works.
Anyone knows how to make it work?

When I choose Roon instead of Sonos I dont see anything happening.

I think that you need a Roon Server in your setup. Please see this Help article on Roon’s architecture…

Thanks for your quick response.
After restarting my PC, it works now.
I can output the music from my Victrola record player now to my pc, which is pretty nice.
I was hoping Victrola would now what music I play on the record.
Which is of course technically not possible I see now..
So you just get the stream, but not with additional info.
Bit naive from me to expect that, but Im not that technical.

Hi @Bas_Meer,

It’s an unfortunate physical limitation that Roon Ready turnables only transmit the digital stream, not enriched metadata. There’s no way to embed tags in the analog signal pre-conversion, and Roon can’t fingerprint or identify the waveform in real-time as it’s being received via RAAT from the turntable.

You can suggest this future layer of enrichment in #featuresuggestions here or to Victrola directly, but do understand that there might be a long horizon to implementing this level of analog metadata integration and/or parallel track identification.
