I have recently purchased a new Windows 11 desk top PC and loaded Roon on to it when configuring. However I have also mistakenly downloaded Roon Server that I do not need as I already run a seperate networked Nucleus Server. I cant see how to uninstal the Server application as it does not appear in the Installed apps listing. (Only Roon Apperas , not Roon server). Should I Unistal the Roon app? Would that also unistal Roon Server? Or is there a Roon server Unistaler else where I should run. I only realised I had downloaded Roon Server as well as Roon when both Icons appeared on my desktop!
Roon Server is an integral part of Roon (for Desktop). You canât uninstall it without uninstalling, and no longer using, Roon. But what you can do is to decide not to run Roon Server on your Desktop if you donât need it running there. If you accidentally started Roon Server on your Desktop, stop it and make sure it doesnât start again on reboot. See also:
Thanks Blackjack, so to clarify, you are saying that for Windows 11 when you download Roon it automaticaly downloads the server software as well? And that I cant run Roon as a simple access to the Nucleus+ application on windows 11? I used to be able to do this on Windows 10 without the server being installed on the desk top. Please clarify
If I cant remove the server software from my desk top I cant see an easy way to ensure it is not running in the background , how can I perrmatly disable it so it doesnt conflict with the Nucleus+ server. I am currently getting interupted play back with Roon and I think it is because of this issue?

Yes, a couple of years ago they merged the server and client application so that the one install potentially can install both âŚ
Absolutely not true. When you installed Roon on the Windows PC, and assuming the Nucleus was on and on the same network segment, you have the option to either âuse this pcâ which will load the RoonServer portion or to connect to the Nucleus which will only then load the client portion.
However, RoonServer is not a Windows service. If you go to your notification area of the taskbar, you will see a little Roon icon. Right click andâŚ
Uncheck âLaunch at Startupâ
Quit
You will have stopped the local RoonServer and set it to not launch. At this point you are just running the client against the Nucleus.
Its frustrating that the new software budles this together on Windows 11 as there must be many users that run the server seperately and it is not obvious that it is running in the background.on Windows 11

Is it usual for the two two servers, one on Windows 11 machine and One on Nucleus to conflict with each other so causing Roon to âJuterâ / be unstable on playback?

I had unpined Roon Server from the start up menu but hadnet reebooted the computer, which I have now done and disabeled it as you sugested through the task manager but you would have thought the Roon Server Icon would have given me those options rather than having to dig around and rebbot etc. There must be a lot of Roon Users that are set up with a remote server so dont realy understand the point of this new software set up.
