I’m curious, wth Roon as the front end, and HQP on the back, does Roon’s clipping indicator reflect clipping in HQPlayer’s output?

No, it only reflects clipping that happens within Roon.
Is Roon based clipping passed on to HQPlayer as clipped music?
Yes. The physical format used for the data transfer does not have headroom to represent out of range values.
