I wonder in what scenarios the new “Adaptive volume” function works. Does it work when streaming with ROON or UPnP, e.g. with BubbleUPnP, or only when playing with the local library visible through HQPlayer?

It doesn’t work with Roon because Roon sends a raw stream to HQPlayer and there’s no metadata visible, even track boundaries are not visible unless format changes.
It works with UPnP if the source files are come untouched with the metadata. UPnP case is always playlist mode because UPnP doesn’t support anything else conceptually, so track gain is used.
With local library both album and track gain are available because there is possibility to load material either as album or through a playlist.
