do you try multi core and cuda checked?
I thought they were checked if grey? There are three steps, one blank, one with a check sign and third grey. I will make the check visable to see what happens, if anything.
Thanks
No difference
heulo
ok iir2 is very heavy so it may not make difference with that one
but all else checked should always give best result as you have multicore cpu
if 48 do not play then check 48k dsd and check adaptive
and set bit rate in desktop settings for dsd to 48 x 256
this play for me
The DAC in questions is not compatible with 48k base rate and its multipel rates. So it will not work. I will return to my RME and appoint that to be an endgame device and make best possible conditions for that. The best decription to RME is, that it is nothing. I perceive the DAC as nothing in the chain of devices. And there it is, the magic. No warmth, no chill, no hype, nothing. I will stay with that, and instead listen to the music coming out just as realistic to me as the real thing.
If DSD output stops working with Roon, you likely have your DAC (ASIO driver) enabled under Roon Settings / Audio. You must disable your DAC from Roon when using HQPlayer for output, in particular with Thesycon sourced drivers like in your case. Otherwise DSD stops workingā¦
Same version that used to work before? Or did you update something?
Client from latest release should work fine though, since I fixed the build mistake regarding AVX2 requirement. Assuming your Surface doesnāt support AVX2. Desktop server requires AVX2 though.
IIR2 cannot convert between rate families, thatās why 48k-base sources donāt work. I know how to make a workaround for that though, but it is not implemented yetā¦
Please take a look at the filter table in the PDF manual regarding possible conversion ratios.
It is same version. The difference is that āBillā decided to do something with the windows 10 installation. I dont know what. None of Client or Desktop opens. Your just get the ātime glassā indicator for say 10 seconds and then the Surface give up trying to start. P*sses me off, because I really want to play from HQPlayer when in the mode for highest quality listening.
I do not know where to look for support āthingsā in the O/S, if that might help you. Feel free to point the direction where and how to look, if you please.
I did find out the rate family conversion problem, thanks to nice members here. I did try other filters, but was not pleased and has already started the process of returning this DAC and go back to my RME.
Thanks for replying, Jussi
This could be a display driver problem. I had similar problem on one of my Windows 10 machine (old Intel NUC) quite a while ago. Hint was that also Chrome browser failed to start. Both HQPlayer and Chrome use OpenGL for rendering the display output. And the problem was that Windows update broke the OpenGL support of Intel integrated graphics. And the problem was solved by downloading and installing latest display driver from Intelās web siteā¦
Could be of course something else too, but that is something that has happened to me with similar symptoms.
Will check it out.
Seems to be something else. I back dated the driver to a very general older software, killing also the Roon start up, because of not supporting required OpenGL or even the full resolution of the built-in display. And then I asked Windows update to install latest driver, resulting in Roon going up again, correct resolution, but HQP Client does not start. I also read about other issues on MS community, tried a driver linked from there, still within MS habitat, no success, Iām afraid.
Will try to restore the PC to a point where I hope everyting worked. BRB
Have tried some stuff that may sometimes work. Unfortunatly the system restoration functioonality was not activated in the W10 installation, so could not find any system update points to restore to. Further I tried the start HQP Client as an admin, occasionally it has worked for other SW, but no. Not this time. As of now the adrn tablet is a veggie, so I just have to restore completely from scratchā¦ Kinda boring, the tablet is not lightning fast, to say the least ā¦
I would guess thereās a lot of base model Mac Mini M1 owners still out there, not really fussed with M2 and M3.
Looks like M4 base is a notable performance improvement over M1 base?
Hi @jussi_laako
Have there been any QoS changes with 5.11.2?
Iām seeing āQoS functionalityā errors showing and occasional pause in music playing to NAA OS on RPi4.
Cat6 UTP and boring Netgear GS108 unmanaged switch - HQPlayer approved network setup
No changes, and no changes with the network audio backend in general.
Which OS are you on?
would be great to know what limits of the M4 base 16GB are. Is dsd256 with DAC correction and convolution fine with almost all filters? War begins to break / not be possible with dsd512?
Thanks!
Yes, can you please buy one and let us know?
Mac Mini M1, latest update 15.3.2
Iāll do some checks and reboots at my end
I have it working on my MacBook Pro M1Max. But it depends on your network setup. IPv4 vs IPv6, DHCP and so forth.
My MacBook Pro ends up using IPv4 despite IPv6 backend. Network configured through DHCP, since itās a laptop.
IPv6 on macOS is a bit mysterious beastā¦ But most of the time it is transparent fallback in HQPlayer.
I know weāve been discussing the MacMini, but Iām just trying to see if thereās another alternative in the same price range that might offer comparable or better performance.
How about this:
GMKtec i9-13900HK for $519 with 32GB of 5200 LPDDR5 RAM and 1TB SSD
Category | Specifications |
---|---|
CPU | 13th Gen IntelĀ® Coreā¢ i9-13900HK |
14 cores, 20 threads, up to 5.4GHz | |
24MB IntelĀ® Smart Cache, TDP 45W | |
GPU | IntelĀ® IrisĀ® Xe Graphics (up to 1.5GHz, 96 execution units) |
RAM | DDR5 5200MHz, 32GB/64GB (dual-channel support) |
Max support 96GB (SO-DIMM*2) | |
ROM | Pre-installed: PCIe x4 NVMe M.2 2280 512GB/1TB/2TB |
Expandable: M.2 22803, max support 12TB (34TB) |
I know that this isnāt an NVIDIA GPU, but since the Mac GPU isnāt really being leveraged as I understand it, I thought that it was worth asking if this sort of i9 device with even more memory in the same price range might be just as - if not possibly more - capable. Plus, TBH, I kind of donāt really want to run a headless Mac in my stack if I can avoid it. But if the Mac 4 mini 16gb base model is such a screaming deal at $499 with education discount, then Iām of course going to do it. And of course you can convince me that running headless Macās is no big deal - itās just remote desktop one way or the other.
EDIT: I guess one concern with the GMKtec box is thermal managementā¦ Iām deep into areas I donāt know anything about.
EDIT2: thereās also a GMKtec AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX370, which has faster (albeit soldered) RAM but a slower processor so Iām guessing thatās not worth it vs. the K10
